Without revitalizing the attraction of the local clubs and inspiring a new
generation of hybridizers I seriously doubt that the AIS has a long term
future.

Amen!

I cannot stress the importance the revitalizing aspect of Brad's comment.
I've always felt from day one when I joined AIS attended my first local meeting,
that the entire foundation of AIS rest's with the local Affiliates! Without
them nothing AIS does at the national level is relevant. Most members don't
attend convention, hybridize, or even get involved at the Region level. They
do attend and enjoy well presented programs, shows and sales. Most everything
else is just of interest to those of us that have caught the "IRIS Bug" and
hopefully with good vital local clubs, some will likewise become "infected" !

Just my two cents !

Snow is going fast here in Maine and it won't be long before we are in the
garden!
