RE: Registering AIS publications

The Operations Manual of The American Iris Society has been in preparation
for several years and has been updated on a fairly regular basis. There are
position descriptions for all officers, committee chairs, and several
committees.

As with all such documents, this is a work in progress and changes each time
the Board implements a new committee.

There is no extant position description for Publications nor for Managing
Editor nor for Editor nor for RVP Representative to the Board. All of these
are being worked on.

With the publication of the 7th Edition of the Handbook in mid-April, I will
return to work on the Operations Manual.

Good point, Clarence. I hadn't put my mind to that. Is there a roles and
responsibilities document for the AIS? Job descriptions for each of the
jobs? That's where it would fit. I will take on writing a job description
for the Publication Chair as that is a new position.

I've checked out the system for registering publications. AIS is already

listed as a publisher, so all I need do is register our users for the

database. Up to five people can access the system for registering or
checking on our

publications.

Other than myself, I suggest Bob Pries as my alternate, the Storefront, and

the Secretary. Any suggestions for the fifth? If Bob, John and Patricia

agree, please give me a username to register.

This sound good to me. As a fifth person, you might consider our Librarian

as a candidate. One aspect you may wish to also consider is: how can we make

this process and the need to keep it current a part of our institutional

memory? As time passes and players change, we are as an institution prone
to

forget. Clarence
