Jim: The MemSec's office equipment is important to the heart of our organization. I suggest that no new Honorary Award medals be purchased this year, in contradiction to what we voted at the Spring Regional. The AIS can live and thrive without purchasing Honorary Awards this year or even next year (or maybe ever). We (AIS) can't live without an up-to-date, functioning MemSec's office. In my opinion, AIS doesn't buy DSM replacements this year, period. That should, several times more over, take care of the$1,000 cost suggested in the original disclosure of the problem. In the meantime we can think about an interesting fund raiser project for raising the money necessary to keep our Honorary Awards medals available! Jeanne In a message dated 6/24/2010 1:40:34 P.M. I am completely in favor of this motion but I am aggravated by the fact that something so critical to the needs of the AIS must wait until the discussion period is over and the vote taken before action can be taken. In a face to face action, it would be over in five minutes (or less). Tom should be out, shopping and getting the equipment he needs to complete the jobs the AIS needs to be able to handle in order to function effectively. We need to find a better system for emergency situations like this! Jeanne Jeanne, Yes, but how do we pay for it with our whopping deficit budget already?? I am all for this but where do we cut budget to compensate? Something has to give somewhere or we have to take in more income. Jim M. |
