Re: Advertising

I would think more alon the lines of adverising the sections better....as it stands a newcomer could get lost just trying to find the sections.

another would be to advertise and use some of that 'WHITE' space on the edges of the WEB site to promote some of the products that are sold at the storefront. We not only make money from the products but if non members are buying and reading they may also want to join.

A one stop Join button would also be nice.

Hi Bob,

As Treasurer, I am all for making all the money we can while we promote our
products.

In pricing these website ads though, we should consider the businesses,
hybridizers who already pay for advertising in The Bulletin...Perhaps we can make it attractive for them to advertise in BOTH places if they already have a Bulletin ad. We certainly don't want to lose Bulletin Advertising to perhaps
lower priced website ads.

We might also regain some ad money we have lost to people who no longer
advertise in the Bulletin and just want to advertise on the website?

John and Chris? How difficult would it be to set up and monitor website
advertising blocks on the website...Would it cost us any money?

Jill

Recently I was searching for sources of plants to fill my new garden. I
poured
through the ad sections of old garden magazines. It dawned on me that I
didnbt value these journals just for the articles but also for the products
they could lead me to.

B

It occurred to me that people coming to the AIS website might also be
searching for plants, gifts, books, etc. dealing with Iris. Our website
might
be more valuable to them and to us if we had selected advertisements down
one
side just many other sites but only ads for Iris related things. It might
bring in a small amount of money to fund the site and also make it more
interesting to the visitor.

B

I assume that with the website redesign underway this idea should be
incorporated into that plan. I am throwing this out for the brainstorming of the group. Please talk about merits and concerns. But if you just say no, I
would assume that is an unconsidered response.
