RE: Iris in the Master Gardeners Program

Robert;

I am a former Anoka County Master Gardener, I can speak from experience.
They press the flesh, hold plant fairs, seminars, speak to the gardening public and volunteer for gardening projects. Funded by counties they provide an educational service to the public. In Minnesota it is an extension service of the U of Mn. a part of their charter as a public land grant university.

I have always believed we need to talk to the public about iris as much as possible. An Irisarian program, creating certifed experts(like an MG)and educational material behind them (culture sheets, presentations, etc.)who speaks about iris, provides answers to the publics questions about iris, much like the ARS Rosarian program could help bolster AIS.
