Re: AIS 2010 Convention

Hello;

As the new RVP for Region 8 I travelled to Madison to attend their last meeting, to review their level of interest and to offer support from the Region and Minnesota. It appeared that the Wisconsin and Madison Area clubs had a firm idea of the logistical and financial committments to the convention project and are prepared to take on this task.
As an example of this support the Region will commit to help with the financial support of the Convention. One of the projects the Region undertook last year is to sponsor a new plant sale in southwestern WI. sponsored by a local garden club and each of the clubs in the Region, the iris were furnished by each club, the goal was to educate the gardening public and make rhizomes available. The income was given to the Region. This endeavor will continue and we will be trying to expand this to other areas. Part of this funding will be pledged to their Convention efforts.
