Re: Calendars- Turner and AIS

Hi Jim and Clarence
Turner will let us apply the 40% discount until August 15 which gives us time to run info. in the July Bulletin. So their production will occur in late August which fits with what Jim is saying. (by the way, photos are in the mail today)
Clarence, last year was very exceptional with the untimely death of Olive. Rounding up loose ends in June with 3 weeks production in the US and 3 months delivery from Hong Kong plus a one week delay because I did not know the system, one week delay because they got shipped to NY instead of Oregon - calendars arrived in November. This year ,I will start as soon as my catalog is off the drawing board - maybe a week - and I will try to get the AIS calendar back on the schedule that Olive had.
I have 3 pictures selected but I would invite ANYBODY to send good garden scenes - either slides or digital. The people in Hong Kong use 360 dpi compared to our 300 dpi but I will take care of that when scanning slides. "Iris" need to be the focus..
Today, we are working on the April Bulletin with Erica and Bruce. It is a jam packed issue!
Further to Jim's comments. I took a bunch of BOTH calendars to my local garden center about Dec. 1st. The AIS calendar was priced at $10.00 and the Turner calendar at$15.00 . They ALL sold.

Clarence & all,

When I ran a retail calendar store at a major St. Louis Mall, we began stocking next year calendars in September for sales beginning October 1. By far our biggest sales month was December. We handled thousands of different calendars with maybe 30-50 being horticulture related. Cats, dogs, Dilbert, and Kincaid art were the big sellers here and throughout the U.S. in our chain's multiple locations.
