I am on the IP committee and forgive my memory but I do not remember this as stated by John. The committee as I understand it is for the purpose of chewing over complex issues and then advising the board which ultimately makes the decision.

Actually I think the reverse is the case. I presented the New Zealand Iris Society request to the IP Committee with a recommendation that we approve it.

I may be mistaken but as I understand it, the simple straight forward issues are to be handled by the committee, more complex ones handled by recommendations from the committee to the board.
