Re: Proposal for discussion -- Clarence's new book
Hi again,
Made the trip to our local post office. Assuming that the new publication
is similar in size and weight as The World Of Irises, I found the
following:
1. The World of Irises will fit in the 8.10 flat rate envelope, however
there is no protection or padding. The customer is going to receive a
publication with damaged corners on the cover. (Not recommended by the
post office personnel.) Flat rate postage is $4.05 to anywhere within
the US. No charge for the envelope.
2. I recommend we use a #3 or #4 bubble manila envelope (cost $.42 or
$.46 each) for shipping. We currently use both sizes for Storefront
shipments.
3. Shipping cost comparison for The World of Irises to the east coast
(Dr. Epperson) and west coast (Jeanne Plank).
Media Mail (Book rate) $2.55 to both locations, delivery 7-8 days to east
coast, 5 days to west coast.
Priority Mail - $9.00 to east coast, $6.40 to west coast, 2 day delivery
on both.
4. International Shipment for 2 lbs 5 oz.
Australia - Air Letter $18.55 with 4-7 day delivery
Economy $8.25 with 4-6 week delivery
Germany - Air Letter $16.55 with 4-7 day delivery
Economy $8.15 with 4-6 week delivery
We currently send all shipments by Media Mail. If a customer wants the
items sooner, they are asked to pay the difference between the Media Mail
rate and the Priority Mail rate. The customers have been willing to pay a
couple of extra dollars to get the publications sooner.
Kay and I are leaving town and will be back Tuesday.
