RE: 2008 Fall Board Meeting in Las Vegas, NV

I am sorry, I will not be able to attend the fall board meeting.

Do most regions do a budget and pay the way of their RVPs to the National
Convention and the Fall board meeting?  Region 17 does not have an approved
budget for the year.  They did pay my room, my registration fee, and my gas
to travel to Austin and back.  But they said it was more than they ever paid
before.  I checked in the night before the RVP meeting and went home after
the banquet.  I feel the Region should want their RVP in attendance at AIS
board meetings and at the other convention meetings and programs, and I feel
they should have it budgeted.  I did not find that to be true when I brought
it up to the executive board at the region meeting.  I just wondered what
the other regions do.

Time is fast approaching when the hotel deadline for our block of rooms
at the $129 group rate will expire on October 15, then the room rate will
be from $179 to $200 per night.   The hotel is The Santa Fe Station Hotel
and Casino at (702) 221-6605 or (866) 847-7666 in Las Vegas.

I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU DON'T DELAY AND GET  YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS
MADE NOW.    Mary Lee Fortner and the Las Vegas Iris Society has
negotiated us a very good rate for our stay so, lets help her out by
making our reservations NOW.  ASK FOR THE AMERICAN IRIS SOCIETY GROUP
RATE.

Also, if you have not sent your registrations to Mary Lee Fortner for the
board meeting, you need to do so now so that she  will know how many
people will be attending.

Registration Fee is $80 which includes Friday evening snack, Saturday
continental breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Please make the check out to
LVIS and mail to Mary Lee Fortner, 3337 Ascona Court., LAS VEGAS, NV.
