Re: Needed Fall Board Meeting Reports

Gerry; I was not at the meeting and did not hear the discussion but I can not remember the results every being reported before January. I know they usually go up on to the website but that does not always happen quickly. I have an area on the Iris Encyclopedia set up for reporting popularity poll results. One of its advantages is I could, and would like to, create a photo gallery of the winners. Since the pictures can also be linked to each cultivars page it can be very nice for new visotors to the website. If you would be willing to send me your results when you have them I would be delighted to create this gallery. Since there is a great deal of work involved in this I would not promise to have this done in a week or two but could possible get it there within a month. I am sure newer members would enjoy seeing such a gallery of the top 100 favorite Irises.

Jim,

Michelle's comment was correct, there is not a written report at this
time, but that is not the whole story.

You are certainly not wrong--the Symposium was a mess this year.

At the board meeting I explained what all happened (and didn't happen),
and a constructive discussion took place.

I will be sending John a report in a few days, after this year's
Symposium work is done. Doing it now (or at any earlier time) seems to
me like doing the final report on US elections an hour after the polls
on the east coast have closed.

If the AIS world revolved around the Symposium, the fall board meeting
would be held a couple weeks later, so that the final Symposium results
could be given there. Other time constraints make the current scheduling
more appropriate, however, and the meeting date should not change, but
it does mean that the Symposium report is necessarily incomplete at
meeting time (and it still would be if written now).

I hope this helps,

Gerry
