Clarence,
Confirmation by John Ludi that the AIS Storefront has purchased 100 copies
of your book should indicate the intent of the AIS Board to support your
fine
effort on this. I look forward to receiving my copy soon! I enjoyed the
preview chapters you allowed me to proofread. I was and am amazed by your
research ability and was pleasantly surprised that your research on
Williamson
confirmed my previous research and conclusion that Mary Williamson, not her
father, was the actual hybridizer of 'Wabash', thus making her the first
woman to
earn the Dykes Medal.
Cheers.
Jim Morris
Thanks, Jim, for your concern and words of encouragement. You will find your
name in the Acknowledgement section of the book, and rightly so. I am aware
that many people are not interested in history, but that is their loss. Our
society and the irises we so much admire exist today because of many dreams
and visions of those who went before. By the way, the historical society and
master gardeners in Bluffton, Indiana are putting in permanent memorial iris
plantings of Williamson irises to honor the Williamsons. The plantings will be
on the Region 6 garden tour in 2008 I think. I will forward two messages I
received from Craig Leonard about this. Clarence
