Re: 100th Anniversary Plans

A few thoughts:

1- The way WiFi was set up with the Marriott during the Convention is this:
You accept the charges online when you sign up, but when you check out the
Internet charges are taken off your bill. So, Internet service is FREE to
all AIS Members.

2- Food maybe a little on the high side, but it was good, and for most
people it's only an expense they need to incur for a few days.

3- The Marriott offered FREE shuttle service to and from the airport. Other
hotels, while closer to town and/or shopping centers and restaurants, may
not offer FREE shuttle service.

4- $114 daily hotel rate for our Convention rooms are super cheap,
considering we're a close to distance to NYC.

5- Not sure how many people parked at the hotel, but when you have your car
and you're not using it you may want to find out about cheaper airport
parking lots at very close distance.

6- There are many pros and cons considered when researching for a hotel in
the area that Paul worked on. A contract has been signed for 2020 with this
same hotel. I personally think that some issues, such as the slow service
during the Reception could be worked out with the Marriott. Besides that we
have a potential for doubling the attendance for 2020 and the availability
of meeting rooms is crucial. The Marriott has many meeting rooms, which is
a huge PLUS for our group.

7- Took six Uber rides during the Convention. The cars were all excellent,
the drivers courteous and for most part very friendly. For instance, five
of us went to a restaurant 11.3 miles away from the hotel and paid one way
$15 for all five of us (potential for savings if you share a ride).

8- Most hotels offer a refrigerator in the room for a charge. I didn't
really care for one, but if you do you may want to inquire about for 2020
and bring some groceries in. That saves a lot of $$$.

Hope this helps.
