Re: Re: AIS Finances

Greetings,

I believe that a majority of the affiliates, regions
and sections would be willing to pay a yearly
assessment for insurance, as Clarence suggested. As I
mentioned at the spring board meeting, even if all the
affiliates paid the $50 affiliation fee,it would bring
in an additional $7,300 over what is currently
collected because 146 of the 179 affiliates had their
fees waived. Add to that a $50 annual fee for Regions
and sections, and you would add another $1,650
collected. Of course these fees could be increased or
changed to be more equitable to the various groups
involved. But, just making the $50 Affiliation fee
standard for all affiliates, with very few waivers
(such as 1st year affiliation), and adding a $50 fee
for regions and sections would bring in nearly $9,000
more than is presently collected. Surely, it would
not be a hardship for most of these groups to come up
with $50 yearly in this way. It's obvious that some
affiliates and regions are willing to pay much more
than this fee, because of their generous donations to
date. I'm impressed that a couple of regions have
already donated $1000 each. While many groups
certainly could not afford that amount, several could
and will donate much more than $50 when they know that
the need is there. And, for those very small
affiliates, and new ones, there could be an adjustment
or waiver.

The Society cannot survive depending on local clubs

insurance is not unreasonable--if the affiliates,
regions and sections want to do it. About $150 a year
from each affiliate, region and section would probably
come close to the $20,000 required. (This is only a
rough estimate) Would the affialiates, sections and
regions vote to do this?
