When I have been show chair, I have always wondered why it costs so much for postage.  I wonder if there is some soft envelope type packaging that would be cheaper than a box.  However, I cannot recall what is included in the box besides ribbons, I do not really know if the soft packing bag would be cheaper or possible. I recall that as show chair, I ordered ribbons that would add to our supply and give us enough for several years, just to beat the postage cost.  I also recall that I shipped a huge packing box full of rhizomes via UPS for about $16 so it seems that $14 for ribbons is a bit expensive.  However, it would be good to know what all the items are that are shipped, and whether we should consider a two fold shipping charge - one for larger show orders, and another for smaller

If there is no other option than what was suggested, then so be it.

As the RVP Rep I can vote so I can certainly take into account the opinions of the RVP's when voting.

Do any of the other RVP's have an opinion on this topic?

I am sorry I jumped the gun with my comment, and I know I do not vote, but again I would like to ask that the alternate UPS shipping method that Janet mentioned be investigated before a shipping rate increase is enacted.
