RE: Handbook Meeting

Hi Claire, since you put it that way; I like copy and paste!!!!

And thank you for the schooling on the ARCHIVE.  Being newer to the business end of AIS I had not really had a need to go there.

See you on the 24th.

Doug

Hi Doug:

To tell you the truth, it's easier to copy and paste than to write another paragraph.  Takes about 15 seconds to copy and paste.

There is a permanent record of the AIS minutes in the AIS website going back to 2005.  Earlier than that, you have to look elsewhere.

After minutes have been approved (or corrected and approved) by the BOD, they are posted in the AIS website in the ARCHIVE section.

Go to the AIS website, click on RESOURCES and then click on ARCHIVE.

I'm not sure minutes need to be posted in two places?  Do they?  All the minutes, including of the Handbook Special Meetings will be in the ARCHIVE.

To be honest, I think just a few people read the minutes, anyway.    The easiest thing for me would be to copy and paste into AISTalk.

Maybe you will bring this up at the Feb 24th meeting.

Hi Claire, thanks for the reply.

There are multiple items I am going to talk about

First, should there be a folder in aisdocs for the minutes of the Handbook update meetings?  My thought would be yes, great place to capture them for the record.

I was thinking something simple:

At the Feb 9th handbook meeting updates to chapters 9, 10, and 11 were approved.  The Board of Directors thanked the median iris people for doing such a nice job on these chapters.  A special thanks to Debbie Strauss for organizing the group to review the chapters and attending tonight’s meeting to answer questions.   The next handbook meeting will be Tuesday 2 March for chapters x, y, z.

I think Motion 1 in full should be noted in the routine teleconference on 24 Feb so it will be captured in regular business minutes.

During the 9 February 2021 Handbook meeting the following motion was made and passed:

To approve spending up to $3000 for a system and ancillary products for an interim registrar.  Motion by Bonnie Nichols and seconded by Jill Bonino.

The motion was amended to increase the sum to $4000.  Amended by Bonnie Nichols and seconded by Jill Bonino.  Motion passed.

Discussion:  Some of the funds could come out of the Electronics Services budget.  Details of how and when the transition of the duties from the registrar to an interim registrar and possible team have not yet been worked out.  Until further notice, John Jones is still in charge of registrations.  Hybridizers will be kept informed.

Thank you again Claire.

Doug

Something to consider.  If someone is not able to make one of the meetings, example, me last week, there is no summary post of the meeting results and future events.  A short paragraph would suffice just to keep everyone up to date.
