I think the idea of filming the convention has merit. I think a $1,000 is way beyond what we should be spending if the thought is to distribute the items for free. I think our first choice is to find someone who does the filming and production as a business. Then license the sale of the DVDs so that AIS earns several dollars off the sale of each disc but doesn't incur the expense up front. The person filming and producing the DVD assumes the risk and AIS doesn't care if the person sells 10 or 1,000 copies; although 1,000 at $2/disc license fee. We would likely have to share some of the income with Presby but that is OK. We would need to work with Veronica to get a license deal that is fair to AIS. What I am saying is this venture should be left to private enterprise and not AIS funded and fronted. I am not sure what it would cost. I would guess close to a thousand dollars. That would probably blow all the budgets. I could imagine squeezing a couple of hundred out of the budget. Perhaps if we knew the cost we could get enough $20 donations to cover it and each donor could get a DVD.
