I've appreciated seeing the positive comments to John's "website content"...
as it was my idea I had sent John privately the day before.  I'm glad to hear
that John is working with a designer.  I think the first and foremost change
needed is to improve the visual appearance at the front page... banners,
sidebars or photography that make it prettier.  Slight changes to the index
will add to the improvement, and since the amount of information has grown
over time, adding a Site Map (Rita suggested this before).
   ...  looking forward to changes as it becomes possible...

John, some thoughts, just came to my head

For all the years I've been involved with irises, I always feel we miss
targeting an important group.  We encourage youth... that's up to 19.  We have
a huge number of retired people... but we don't have the younger adults and
people in the 20-40 age group.  People say it's because they work, they live
in apartments...etc etc.
I personally think we/AIS needs to target the Family or Young Adult group.
By this, somehow have family gardening or some catchy title which would
interest that 20-40 age group... something the first time younger visitor
would see right away and hold their attention for 2 minutes, quick blurbs,
like 'diagrams of how to plant an iris', pictures of small gardens... things
that are visual and would draw their interest...

just thoughts.
