Re: E memberships

Well I certainly understand that free things are not always valued. The tracking of an expiration date could easily follow the expiration for their regular Youth membership (recalling that we have both a Youth without Bulletin ($5.00) and a Youth with bulletin ($9.00) - both single year memberships

The e-memberships will be administered by the membership secretary and at the time he establishes or renews and youth membership he can establish the e-membership. I do not mean to speak for Tom in this matter and he may have a differing opinion, to which I would demur.

While a youth member may not ascribe a value to the ememberhisp, having hooked them on it makes it more likely that they might be willing to pay for it when they turn 19.

As of the Spring report, we have 170 youth members. I don't see the financial impact being great if we give the emembership away. On the other hand if we give it away to them, it will make it less likely that someone else in their family will subscribe to it.

Just some thoughts on the matter.

John and Bob,

OK here is the big bad Treasurer putting in her two cents. I think the e memberships should have a price to the youth members. Things that people get FREE often they do not value as much as something with a designated price. Also with a price, there would be a designated expiration date. We could keep track better of youth e- members who renew or drop...How about $10 for a youth member? Jill

I suggest giving a free e-mbership to any youth member.

Among other things it is just simpler to do.

Hello everyone,
I received an interesting letter in the mail from one of the youth
members.
She included her answer to Bob Pries' e mambership survey. She
said she would
not be interested in an e membership because she was only 4 years
old and not
allowed to use the
computer! She also doesn't know how to read very well yet.

This cute letter caused me to ramp up the old brain cells. Bob,
did you
receive many responses from the youth members to your e membership
survey and
if you did, what were the results? This begs the question, will
youth members
be given a discount in the e memberships? Currently they do have a
discount
in regular AIS membership. I do not think we were thinking too
much about
youth members when we were formulating the e membership plan, but
in all
honesty, many youth members will be the ones using the internet in
the future,
and they should be part of our target audience.

Gary and John, what are your thoughts on this?

Cheryl
