Thanks Roy;
I actually have all of the Clarence Mahan articles that you mention and they
are all available on the AIS website with each award. The Siberian Medal
(Morgan-Wood) I already have both the history write-up +winner listing. But
thanks anyway.
There are just a few of the medals for which I do not have the "winners
listing".
The winner listings that I do need to complete the Awards page are as
follows:
1. Caparne-Welch Medal: Miniature Dwarf Bearded (MDB)
2. Sydney B. Mitchell Medal: Pacific Coast Native (PCN)
3. Eric Nies Medal:Spurias (SPU)
4. Founders of SIGNA Medal: Species (SPEC)
5. Randolph-Perry Medal:Species Cross (SPEC-X)

Chris,
Clarence Mahan has written a brief historical description of each of the
Special Medal awards of The American Iris Society. Several of these have
been published in Section publications. For the Society for Siberian
Irises, I can provide you the historical info as well as an up-to-date and
complete listing of medal winners.

Hi Chris,
I'm the current president of the DIS and I'm afraid I don't have even a
partial list of Caparne-Welsh winners although I agree it is important that
one be put together. I believe our vice-president may have knowledge about
where to come up with the best iformation on this, but before I inquire I
wanted to check if you still need this information.
All the best,
Brad Kasperek
DIS President

I am looking for a complete list of past winners of the MDB Caparne-Welch
Medal. This is for the "Awards" section of the AIS website. There I am
trying to provide a comprehensive reference list of each of the medals,
their history and past winners list. (actually it has not been very easy at
all to find info for many of the awards which makes me realize its probably
more important to do this than I originally thought)
There are other awards that I am also seeking info on but I'll just go at
it one at a time. The awards info I am assembling appears on the AIS
website on the following page: www.irises.org/awards.htm You can see the
ones I am missing there.
For the MDB irises award list I visited the DIS website but found no award
listing there so I thought that I would contact the DIS President for the
info or a source (but I have found 3 different names for same and am not
sure which is current) The one I did contact did not answer. If someone in
the society has this information perhaps they could forward it to me via
e-mail.
Thanks in advance.
