Are you asking about what the premium was for this year? If so, the
package
premium was $17,839 which included the AIS personal property, liability,
and
crime coverage. As far as what it will cost its contributors, I assume you
mean the clubs and regions. This is exactly what needs to be discussed.
There is no requirement in place at the present time for any club or region
to
contribute to the cost of the policy.

We realize this a "Discuss" topic and we are not a voting members of the AIS
Board, but as a retired commercial insurance person who respect fully the
gargantuan job that Michelle has done the past few years and , we do want to
add our "2 Cents".
At the November 2005 AIS Board meeting (in the minutes, it was reported that
there had been voluntary contributions from Societies, Regions and the 2005
Convention of $8,800 plus the just posted Donation Secretary Report shows
there has been a total of $7,050 contributed to the insurance fund from 11-1-05
to 4-1-06 so (maybe theoretically depending on whether we are talking
fiscal, calendar or insurance year) a total of $15,850 has been contributed by
Sections, Regions and Affiliates toward a total bill of $17,839.00.
This is all well and good for this year BUT AIS cannot continually run
around with "hat in hand" and expect to maintain this level of donations to the
insurance fund. An intuitionalized method of funding insurance expenses NEEDS to
be established.
For instance: $50 per Affiliate x 182 = $9100 plus $100 per Region x 24=
$2400 plus 9 Sections and 2 Cooperating Societies x $200=$2200 would come to
$13,700. The rest of approx $4000 AIS could cover comfortably.
Just send out bills every January for the annual insurance costs. It is
certainly less than each Affiliate/Region/Section would have to pay if we cut
them off with NO insurance. (To say nothing of the fact than many
"business-types" among us would refuse to be officers of Affiliate/Regions/Sections if
there was NO liability insurance for AIS!!!)
