Howie; I love your idea of a Powerpoint and I am delighted the Jim & Jean already have something put together. I do not know why I never thought about a Powerpoint. I have been thinking for a long time about a booklet for new members, “A User’s Guide to AIS”. Currently we send out “Basic Iris Culture” to new members. But many clubs already buy BIC for sale at their Sales and Auctions. Often a new member winds up with two copies. It seems to me a user’s guide could get a new member more excited and point them to AIS’s many resources. I can imagine headings like How to Have a show, How to show an Iris, How to become a judge, How to have a display Garden, how to organize a garden tour, How to find information on the Encyclopedia, What to do and see at conventions, etc. Certainly I think both a Powerpoint presentation and such a booklet could be developed hand in hand. Sadly, though I have presented this idea before there was never much encouragement to do this. I hope we can get the Powerpoint fully developed.
Wayne,You're the best. When I get home I'll look at it. If there is nothing specific to the conventions I'll want to add that.Howie Dash

Wayne MesserRegards,Are there other presentations out there we should be making available?Jim and Jean Morris have a AIS Benefits Presentation PowerPoint as a GoogleDrive document that you can download. There is a page on the Region 23 website that points to it:It has 25 slides and is probably from late 2013.(has the 2013 Dykes Medal winner and News & Notes in it). The direct link to the presentation is:

Sounds great to me. I could help you some too if you'd like Howie.
DebbieSent from my iPhoneI was asked if I could create this for MVIS for March 20. I'm going to be out of town that date to giving a presentation to any Iris society in Texas. Someone else is going to give the MVIS presentation but I was hoping I didn't have to recreate the wheel for this.I'll hopefully do something quick and dirty and I'll certainly send you what I create that you can use as a starting point.I find most members of the local Iris societies, other than the more active members, don't really know what AIS does and it would be really positive if AIS had a canned presentation to explain all this to those desiring that important information.Howie Dash
