Re: AIS Bulletins
Hi All
When I set up the publication of the bulletin in Portland many years
ago, we got bids from several bulk mailing services in Portland. These
people take our mailing list ,label, shrink wrap, and bundle the
bulletins to go to the post office. This process was handled in a timely
fashion and there is no way that they can be at fault. We recieved our
bulletin ,across the river, a couple of days later so the Portland Post
Office bulk mail service did their job in a timely fashion. I have been
in that facility on numerous occasions and have talked directly to the
people responsible for our service. When I was editor, the fellow's name
was George. That was 5 years ago so he may have retired. Tomorrow
morning, I will be passing that post office where all of this goes on. I
will go in and talk directly, face to face, to the people responsibles
at the Central Portland Post Office.(that is the one and only place
where our bulletins have been mailed for 8 years.
There is a really good reason why they may not know us as a customer.
For at least the last five years, we have relied on the mailing service'
bulk mail permit for mailing. That is why they know of Ad-mail (an early
service) We now use AKA direct because they provide us with shrink wrap
at the best price. (I will ask the questions when face to face.) I have
seen our files on their computers and in their file cabinets. They may
now be listing AKA Direct as their customer. (they pay the mailing bill.)
There has been far, far too much idle speculation and finger pointing
going on.
