In the last couple of days Tom has notified Judy, Michelle and I that first his laptop was having problems and now it has crashed. In the meantime he is using Rita's but he needs a new one ASAP.
The MemSec FilemakerPro database may not work on Windows 7 (the OS that is on most laptops now) so he may have to buy extra software to make it compatible. FileMakerPro will work with Vista and he may be able to get a laptop that still runs Vista...
I make a motion that the AIS Board authorize the Membership Secretary to purchase a new laptop and necessary software for the MemSec operations with a budget no larger than $1,000.
This is the first computer equipment request we have had in over 3 years...Computers die and systems must be upgraded.
