Biggest issues are AIS Lookup and getting an insurance certificate, things that the clubs use the most. Both subjects are buried in obscure places on the website, and I have heard numerous times that the new website is pretty but difficult to maneuver. Maybe
a table of contents that has more relevance to clubs. Most don't care about minutes or other things administratively. Contacts for each region would be very helpful, I know I have had difficulty contacting different clubs regarding youth issues. I will forward
your information and that of Bryce's to them. Thank you for answering my "comment". I was venting!

Okay, here are my two cents worth. As a small (very small) hybridizer who takes horrible blurry pictures, I would not have been able to submit photos with my two latest introductions without a GREAT deal of help from Neil Houghton. Lucky enough to attach photos
but having no idea how to crop, or do anything else with regard to the camera on my phone, 'images' would not have been submitted with my intros. Thank you again Neil. I have had names 'reserved for more than 6 years, but have not had an iris that 'matched'
the name, and I have paid for the privilege of reserving those names. I was against 'requiring' the submission of photos from the get go. I think many, many smaller hybridizers do not have the ability or the wherewithal to pay a photographer to capture the
image of their new intros. I will bet dollars to donuts that the majority of compliance is done by the big guys who have catalogs and websites. My two recent intros were the first in over 3 years that I introduced, and we already have a requirement that they
need to be offered for sale in a catalog or other venue. Not easy for someone like me. The more you 'require' the less compliance you will get from the smaller guys. Who cares if your new 'baby' is officially registered with AIS? Unless you aspire to win
the Dykes, you can introduce an iris locally with a name, sell it at club sales, etc. and fly under the radar of AIS. And unless someone, like a judge or AIS member notices, who cares? AND THE NEW WEBSITE SUCKS!!!!! It is soooo difficult to navigate, and things
are placed in strange categories. I hear nothing but complaints from members of all three clubs I belong to.

Phyllis: good idea. It is prominently displayed on the website, but not all hybridizer go there 9some have no access) or read N and N apparently. Taking this all into account, the small group established last week (John, Jody, Andi and I) have been communicating
and will be presenting some ideas on Wednesday.
It is my suggestion that before we adopt some changes, the group on Wednesday can discuss this and we announce that this will be a topic of discussion at a regular meeting. Then we discuss it as a resolution and make sure that hybridizers are aware.
We know that the Board supports this concept.
We need consensus on the process. Then follow through by all.
I have heard from one RVP who will follow up in their Region. I’m not sharing the names with the entire group, but how would folks feel about sharing them with the RVP?

I looked up the Registration Form on the AIS website, and there is no mention of a photo requirement. Perhaps we need to start there by revising the form and instructions to include that information, and make sure that every hybridizer that we
are aware of gets a new copy of that information. To Neil's point, this is one thing that might help to get the word out. Some hybridizers probably have those forms in big stacks, or on their computer, and have no reason to ever read the instructions or any
article that talks about it.

on submitting images did not happen.

Is there any chance that some hybridizers didn't get the word. If they've registered irises in the past they might not bother to read stuff regarding "how to register an iris" because they have done it before and are unaware that the rules have
changed.

Thank you Joe and John, reserved names does not appear to be a major part, or even a part, of the problem.

There are many instances that hybridizers reserve names because they like the name, it may have special meaning to them, and/or are waiting for the right iris to come along.
The number or reserves is so small on a year to year basis as to have no impact.
During the teleconference discussion I heard reserving names brought up. Is that part of the problem, allowing names to be reserved without pictures can allow hybridizers to, ‘lets say,,,
delay’, sending registration pictures but still introduce and market their Iris. Requiring pictures to be provided “before” a name is issued may be part of the solution.
I am a hybridizer and I have been regularly submitting images with registration. I am anxious to do it for two reasons beyond the fact it is required.
First as a relatively new hybridizer, i like my descriptions backed up with a picture. This helps me write up the descriptions and have them reviewed. Second, it’s another helpful way to promote my irises to others.
I suspect some of the big boys (I don’t know who is not complying) find it a chore to submit pictures with registration in addition to using their pictures to a catalog and website. Only the registrar knows for sure who is complying and who is not.
As I go through my Picacho Mountain Iris garden, I take a photo of every iris that blooms there and put it in a file by year. I look at my reselect seedlings for form, bud count, plant, branching and number of rhizomes left after blooming. I will
record height and bloom season as well bud count and put that information on the file name along with the seedling number. If it is an iris that is worthy of introduction, I have all the information I need with the photo, so it is easy to use that photo with
registration.
As I’m a one man show, photos with registration are not a hardship for me.
I look forward to hearing from the other hybridizers to see how we can improve compliance.
My original thought was to invite hybridizers who aren't submitting photos. We might learn why they are not submitting photos. And possibly discover what we might do to make it easier for them.
On further reflection, I would also include hybridizers who are submitting photos. Are they finding advantages to submitting photos? Or do they have tips to make it easier?
Feel free to share the invite with them.
None of the hybridizers in my local affiliate are on AISTalk, and I can think of a lot within my Region who are not. If the intent is to encourage hybridizers to participate in the Zoom meeting,
then perhaps RVPs should urge all their affiliate presidents to spread the word to hybridizers. (Sorry, I missed last night's meeting. Frantically preparing for my affiliates sale on Saturday, which is going to be held.)

I believe that there are are number of hybridizers on this list. It would be dangerous to invite a limited group at the risk of leaving some off.
It does raise the question of how we make sure that official meeting are advertised since they are technically open. Who is and who isn’t on AIS talk?
Are there any hybridizers we should send a separate invitation to? Ones that are not on AIS Talk. Neil might have some names.
At last night's Board meeting, there was a lot of discussion about the requirement to send images of irises with registration forms.
In 2011, the Board passed a motion requiring images to be submitted with registrations. It was revisited and passed again in 2017, with the Image Coordinator to establish criteria and procedures.
So far , for 2019 registered irises, only 41% have images submitted.
The Board agreed to set up a meeting to discuss this issue.
