Re: AIS Silent Auction - your thoughts on thisplease
How about a big sign that says "Do Not Touch. Please ask for assistance to inspect the volume".
Put a piece of plexiglass over it.
ASI could manage this issue, buy having someone there whenever the auction was open. A pair of cotton gloves is appropriate as I have for handling mine.
It would be good to have a bookseller's description of the condition including whether it comes with its slipcase or not (few do).
While I am sure that ASI and AIS would like to have this volume go to one of our family, I believe that there should be minimum bid level for this so that the sale price comes at least somewhat close to its commercial value (less the commission that would have to be paid to the book seller).
There is one rated as "very good" currently on the US market for $1295.00, but of course it has not sold yet either...
