The National Collections in England has been a program ongoing for forty years. The USA is finally beginning to get something similar into place through the American Public Gardens Association. The APGA is interested in what we might be able to do in the Iris Society and to interface with their developing system. This is slow work, I have been talking with them for more than three years. Although a couple of other plant societies are already working with the APGA, there may be a number of precedents that need to be set before we can join into their system on desirable terms. But things are moving forward. Iris collections will be developed with or without the expertize of AIS. Of course I would prefer that AIS has the gravitas to be a part of the future.
Sorry your first attempt failed, I do not know why the link did not work directly. But I am glad you found the job discription. All these job descriptions evolve and should be reviewed probably on a yearly basis.

Bob,
When I tried to use the url link I got the following message:
Access Denied
Attention
The
"Main/JobDescriptionsNationalCollectionsDisplayAndTestGardenshttp://wiki/irises/org/Main/JobDescriptionsNationalCollectionsDisplayAndTestGardenshtt
p://wiki/irises/org/bin/view/Main" web does not exist
But then I went directly to the wiki and the General Index and was able to
access the page.
Have you seen the latest issue of the SLI Fleur de Lis? It has an article
on the National Collections Louisiana garden in Great Britain.
Jim Morris
