Re: Meerow Grant Proposal

Greetings:
I echo Jill thoughts. (She, too, beat me to it, so to speak.)
Scientific Research has long been a favorite AIS Restricted Fund of
mine.
I believe this Fund supports the activity -- scientific research
pertaining to irises -- that is one of the most important aspects of AIS
existence
and purpose. It should receive high priority in funding efforts.
I would hope AIS can develop special ways for featuring and attracting
donations to this all important part of the organization's work. We have a
healthy Electronic Services Fund, and healthy Youth Funds, we need to work at
an ongoing way to create and maintain a healthy Scientific Research Fund
because (1) this is an area where costs (funding needs) will continue to rise
and
(2) if we want to attract important work, we need "important" dollars to offer
researchers.
It is my hope we will continue to get relevant proposals like the two
that were presented this year (and last). There have been past years where
the
proposals were not.
     Jeanne
