If Gerry is correct than I guess we need to file this one under
urban myth. Unfortunately I have heard from several people that
they felt they could not hold a show in the prefered venue because
of their perception of this rule. I am ashamed that I was not able
to correct them since we might have had a few more productive shows.
As for Missouri Botanical Garden. As Jim mentioned they do charge
admission. But the entrance to the bookstore, auditorium and
exhibit areas are not within the garden proper and I have always
assumed that one did not need to pay to enter them.
Perhaps these posts will enlighten others that are misinformed like
myself.

Today someone was mentioning that they could not put on an AIS

As long as the show is free, it is okay.
The venue can charge.
