Recall the exact,specific wording of the bylaws, Article VII, Officers,
Section 1:

Section 1. The AIS Boardof Directors atits annual fall meeting shallelect the
following officers toserve one year or until their successors are named and
qualified: (1) President; (2) First Vice President; (3) Second Vice
President;
(4) Secretary; (5) Treasurer; (6) Editor. [Emphasissupplied.]

Accordingly, your originalmotion would, in effect, amount to electing the
treasurer in advance of theannual fall meeting.

Should your stratagem workout in practice, a bylaws amendment that explicitly
incorporates a TreasurerElect position by board appointment ahead of the
annual fall meeting would bein order down the line.

After some discussions offline, I am resubmitting my motion below:
