Re: Dr. John Weiler
Quite a few years ago at the convention in Memphis, several women and I were
looking at a pink iris, which one of the women declared to be very beautiful.
I pointed out that the flower was lovely but none of the stalks had more than
5 buds. Across the path John Weiler spoke up and said: "Five buds, Clarence!
In California we call that a Dykes winner!" We all laughed so hard we could
not control ourselves. John was a wonderful man and a hybridizer of the first
order. He was a leader who reformed the Reblooming Iris Society and brought
joy to many lives.

It is with a heavy heart that I pass this information on to you:
Dr. John Weiler July 8, 1925 - September 19, 2011.
He died very quickly, no pain from a heart condition.
No services.
