Subject: RE: [AISdiscuss] Youth Protection Policy and E Memberships
Hi Kelly,
Thank goodness for a gen Y member, token or otherwise. I am not suggesting
deleting Facebook "friends" if they are AIS Youth members, because they would
join under their own responsibility. What I am saying is that a club, having
a Facebook page to encourage everyone to learn more about the club,(and AIS),
would be in violation of the Youth Protection Policy AS IT IS NOW, if they
placed pictures of their youth members on the page identifying the youth
members by name, age and/or affiliation. If the page just showed young people
entering a show, planting iris or being in a garden, without identifying them,
and mentions that there are many activities for young people to engage in,
that's different and something that we want to encourage. However, if the
page displayed pictures of AIS youth members and had captions like "Johnny
Jones of the Mid America Iris Society of Region X with his winning entry at
the show held last weekend", that's where I see a clear violation of our
current policy. If the Facebook page is for members only, no problems.
Due to the emergence of more and more internet options, how should we refine
the Youth Protection Policy to reflect these options?
