RE: Operations Manual

With my limited knowledge, this policy manual has never been presented in
any part to the Board for approval (anyone know? has it?) and is currently a
work in progress. Well a work a long time in progress. And thanks to those
who got it this far! So my idea is to get updates, corrections, suggestions
from all the people holding the current positions and then I will get them
all formatted the same and make a copy available for everyone to see. Then
like anything else it can be presented to the board for approval and if or
when approved by the board, it can be made available on the AIS website for
everyone to see and refer to. Then perhaps yearly, the whole document can
be up for review and revision by current position holders...or maybe every
two years or three?

I really appreciate those I have already heard from and those who have
recently written job descriptions for their current or new jobs. There are
several that only have a line that says under construction.

Sincerely, Debbie Strauss
AIS Board of Directors

Susan,

I'm hesitant to be answering this but why don't we just let it play out for
awhile with Debbie Strauss doing her thing in the position to which I
appointed her!? A little visibility might get some helpful response.

Veronica,

The Operations Manual (in need of much work to which Debbie Strauss was
appointed by me at the fall board meeting to start position by position
review) is currently listed on the Iris Encyclopedia. It is very rough and
incomplete in many places but at least it is a start. Posting it there
exposes its many areas of weakness as well as strengths and perhaps will
instill some action by the current incumbents who did not always respond to
the repeated requests at board meetings for updating by Jeanne Plank. I
know we are all volunteers but this does need everyone's attention. Thank
you, and thanks to Jeanne for all her previous effort.

OK, Janet, here it is:

I move that the Operations Manual be removed from the Iris Wiki and be
posted on the AIS Website.
