Paul,
I am not hopeful about this thought. Most Sections have
mini-conventions because they are just that -- mini.
When coupled with the mini-conventions or Treks of several Regions, it cuts
down on areas that are large enough and stable enough to take on such a
challenge. It is a very big job as many of us know personally. I
think it may be time for AIS to seriously consider a national Convention without
guest garden plants and all the work that such entail. And the time for an
educational convention with two days of educational classes ranging from "Back
to Basics" (we have been seeing many affiliate and regional comments that we
don't have enough info for beginners) to "Advanced Hybridizing" and "Genetics"
may have come. What do others think? You have certainly found out
that cajoling, sweet-talking, etc. isn't working.
