something I'd like to start being considered at the Spring Meeting is
the developement of a category I call "E-Memberships."
It will be a very new area for AIS. In our first consideration, it
will be extremely undefined, and undoubtedly it will be a very
controversial
concept. Consequently, considering whether or not it is reasonable or
feasable
will take much thought and serious work in making the decision whether to re
ject or to develope this concept. I feel it is important that we give the
concept of e-memberships consideration and debate time. It need not wait
until
the Spring Meeting -- those of you on AIS-D can start debate on the subject
now, if you so desire.
Jeanne and all,
We can all learn from what other groups and especially AIS Sections are
doing with their websites. SJI just announced the ability to Join or renew SJI
on line on their website _www.socji.org_ (http://www.socji.org) . Treasurer
Catherine Button is thrilled with the response! HIPS has added a
Visitor/Member option to their website <_www.hips-roots.com_ (http://www.hips-roots.com)
>, allowing Members to participate in the Forums.
I think the ability to Join and renew AIS on line is a critical issue! With
declining membership and the expense following up on renewals, we need to
make joining and renewing as easy as possible!
There are many possibilities for more E-membership advantages and I look
forward to a lively exchange of ideas from AIS-Discuss.
