{This is the reason for AIS discuss. It goes out to a lot of members

[Brad's response]: I have never seen any comments on AISdiscuss from
anyone
not on the AIS Board and was lead to believe it was created for the
purpose of
Board dicussions. John Jones, could you please let me know if AISdicuss
is
open to the membership.
Anyone may post to AISDiscuss, and anyone may read the AISDiscuss messages
in the archives at
http://www.aisboard.org/lists/aisdiscuss
Additionally this list is distributed to a broader group of people than
are typically at either of the AIS Board meetings. Except for people who
have opted off the list, the distribution includes Board members,
Committee Chairs, RVPs, Section presidents, and others that the board has
requested be on the list (I don't recall those)
Yes, it sort of begs the question of how people not on the list would find
out about a particular discussion, but anyone interested in AIS business
could check the archives occasionally and post to the list if they wish.
A notification about an issue could be sent by anyone on the list to any
other group of people that might be interested (e.g., iris@hort,net,
iris-photos@yahoogroups.com, spaceagerobin@yahoogroups.com,
iris-species@yahoogroups.com, sibrob@yahoogroups.com, garden forum etc)
