Re: AIS Strategic Plan - Tentative Mission Statement

I raise concern that the mission statement will have an impact on the tax status. Consequently, funding Genus Iris scientific research should be clearly in the mission....this goes considerable beyond "the education and exchange of information" on science as proposed.??Also, the use of abstract nouns, e.g. nouns ending in the suffix "...tion" makes the statement weak. I ask those who worked on this to not take offense. It just does not "turn me on." Clarence Mahan

Subject: [AISdiscuss] AIS Strategic Plan - Tentative Mission Statement

Greetings,

The Strategic Plan committee proposes the following tentative or working
Mission Statement for the American Iris Society:

"The mission of the American Iris Society is to provide the gardening
community a network for the education and exchange of information about
irises, their appreciation, conservation, registration, culture and science."

At the end of the strategic planning process, the mission statement will be
revisited and adjusted if indicated.

Comments?

Regards,
Gary White
for the Strategic Plan ad hoc committee
