How do others see AIS

I was reading my Carolina Gardener and saw an article about getting more involved in gardening. The following paragraph stood out. Do we live up to the expectations of this gardening Journal?

PLANT SOCIETIES THAT MATTER

Follow your garden passion by joining

a plant society this year. The American

Horticultural Society maintains a handy

on line list of individual plant societies,

with dozens of plant-specific organizations

from African violets to sedums.

Joining a plant society is like opening

an encyclopedia written just for you: conferences

and local seminars, far-ranging

study trips, sales, networking, and even

volume pricing. The result can be deeper

understanding about how your favorite

plant grows, along with the latest information

about emerging varieties.

Considering the amazing plant

diversity across the Carolinas, some of the

most meaningful plant societies may be

the native plant societies and the American

Horticultural Society itself, at ahs.org.

Other active plant societies in the

Carolinas include those for roses, daylilies,

camellias, bonsai, orchids, waterlilies, and

herbs.
