I agree with what Dave Niswonger has written re Paul Black's letter. Re
eligiblity for AIS awards, we should encourage foreign hybridizers to
introduce their irises in the US and be eligible. Many countries have no
awards or iris societies.  We exist to promote irises.

A sure way to reduce AIS membership would be elimination of the sections.  The
sections would become independent societies and many who are now AIS members
would not renew AIS membership. Clarence Mahan
