RE: Motion re Invitation to Join

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond but I wanted to check a few facts.  I believe that the original 25,000 copies was due to the tremendous price point and savings we would get (much less per ITJ than if we went to a POD and purchased the ink cartridges and paper after 10,000 copies were depleted).  Remember, we will be on a big push to increase membership and are planning on sending each affiliate that has a show one package of 25 ITJs with every show order, possibly two; we are hoping to have traveling library exhibits which would need more ITJs with the display; we are encouraging regions to create new affiliates in areas that are underserved; opportunities to attend flower shows and Home & Garden shows will necessitate more ITJs, not less.  If 100 spring shows are held and we send the host affiliate 50 ITJs, we will deplete our supply of ITJs in just 2 years.  Yes, we have discussed "virtual memberships" and many join online, but the need to a paper ITJ still exists.  I think, since the savings seems to be a moot point, that 25,000 is the correct number.

10,000 copies is a much more realistic quantity to print since the present membership will not be using any for renewal. We also seem to have a need to update the information on the form fairly regularly, which also supports the lesser quantity.

I suggest that a line requesting an e-mail address will be added to the form!

There was no "official" motion presented however in looking at Jeanne's early second, she reworded item #2 in John and Kays original email to what, I believe, is a more concise presentation,.  As such, I am using her wording to officially make the motion and open it up for discussion,

That AIS print no more than 10,000 copies of the "Invitation To Join"  brochures.  Should the initial supply be exhausted prior to the next update, AIS
(Storefront) would go to a "Print on Demand" basis. The Ludi's would provide this service.
