Re: Motion for library exhibits

We have made motions that we approved in principle in order to begin develoment of the concept. This is really waht I had in mind for this motion. As I stated in other posts of details of what might be sent, how the costs would be covered and all the other nits and bolts should be worked out and approved individually for any particular project. I would be happy to work on any proposal as part of public relations. But before I would even think of doing so, I think the board must approve the concept. The message that is sent to our members is. yes we would be delighted to work with you on exhibits involvimg library material or copies thereof that could make a meaningful exhibit in your area. I would hope they would also be willing to add material that they would have among their members that could enrich such an echibit and that perhaps they would be willing to contribute it for safe keeping to the library also.

I too agree that a traveling library has its merits. As respects costs,
there is no way for me to obtain a potential cost of coverage to the AIS
without first knowing some key things:

How many items are we talking about?
Would they be housed in a separate location between exhibitions?

Everything in the library is currently covered under the property
insurance section of the AIS policy. To have coverage for the items
while they are traveling would require specific insurance. With the
current crisis of the AIS we should be reluctant to consider this
additional coverage. Since the AIS Foundation specifically mentions the
library maybe the cost of the Transit coverage could be something that
might be considered payable by the Foundation.
