Texas AIS Region 17 Happy 50th Birthday Invite

Dear Everyone, 

 

Texas AIS Region 17 is celebrating a great event this year.  We are 50 years
old!  I would like to personally invite you all to come on down to "Our 50th
Region 17 Meeting" which will be in Waco Texas, at the Clarion Hotel (4th St
@ I-35), on August 14-15. The meeting theme will be "50 years in Texas" and
will honor Texas hybridizers by featuring their iris in our auction and iris
giveaways.

 

If you cannot come party with us, we would love to receive a "best wishes
happy birthday" letter from each of you to read at our banquet and for our

If you are considering coming we really would love to have you.  The Friday
night meal will be Texas Barbeque. Guests will be welcomed and we will all
play "Rhizome Bingo", which will be a new twist on the old timey game. There
will be a Texas Boutique to purchase everything "iris" and garden items for
your enjoyment.  There will be a silent auction including newer introduction
iris rhizomes, and ticket sales for raffle items.  Maybe you can buy or win
those Christmas (or your holiday) presents for those on your list that are
lovers of iris and be a little early this year. 

 

Saturday will begin with a 2 hour judges training.  The training begins at
8:30 am and the topic is "AIS Ethics and Awards" presented by Judy Keisling,
AIS 1st Vice President & Judges Chair. Everyone is invited to attend and you
do not have to be a judge to enjoy the class.

 

The Region 17 Business Meeting will begin after lunch.  This meeting moves
swiftly and is full of information.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to
attend. Each represented society will have the opportunity to share their
club's news. After the business meeting, the iris auction begins. Iris
rhizomes especially from Texas hybridizers will go up for bid with all
proceeds going to Region 17.  This is a rousing and fun occasion, whether
you win any bids or not.  Come see the excitement. 

 

The evening banquet will be Texas Chicken Fried Steak. Judy Keisling, AIS
1st Vice President & Judges Chair, will be our guest speaker. 

 

Full registration is $50. If you come for Saturday only, the registration is
$35.  See the flyer below for all the information and prices.  Remember the
hotel reservation deadline is past, but if you are 50+ registration is
probably even less expensive when you register online.  Get your paperwork
sent in and call for that reservation.

 

Waco offers many attractions and most are close to the hotel including a
Riverwalk and the historic Waco Suspension Bridge, which was the longest
single-span suspension bridge west of the Mississippi when it was completed
